Spaziodati Metacartridge Configuration guidelines

Generating Application Keys

Spaziodati's dataTXT is a web-service for the extraction and linking of named entities from plain text.

Log in to Spaziodati and choose `Get a free API key' from the top menu register a new application:

You need to click the `Create New Key' button to reveal a longer secret key for the application at hand:

Configuring the Metacartridge

Now, log into the Virtuoso Conductor http://localhost:8890/conductor/ and in the `Linked Data' menu, choose the `Sponger' tab, and then the `Metacartridges' tab.

By default, Spaziodati will appear near the top, at the end of a series of metacartridges that handle page content. Because it needs application keys to run, it is also disabled by default, so enable the checkbox and press `Apply' at the bottom of the list.

Specify the application id and key in the cartridge options table:

API Options

The metacartridge has the following options, most arising directly from the Spaziodati API:

dbpedia=true - add links to dbpedia classes as types abstract=true - add an abstract from the relevant Wikipedia page to each extracted entity rho=0.1 - threshold for confidence values (lower-scoring results are discarded) epsilon=0.3 - entities will be chosen from document context (lower values) or more common topics (higher)

In addition, there is a max-entries parameter, implementing a limit on the number of entities found imposed by the metacartridge. By default the top 50 entities with highest rho certainty are returned.
