OpenLink ODBC Drivers
Features Summary
Open Database Connectivity Without Compromise !

OpenLink ODBC Drivers are available in two formats, Single-Tier and Multi-Tier.

Single Tier Driver Features

  • Microsoft ODBC compliance (Core + Level 1 + Extensions, most of Level 2 + Extensions).
  • Supports access to Oracle, Informix, Sybase SQL Server, Progress, and MS SQL Server.
  • Remote database access is totally dependent on additional, database specific communications software provided by the relevant database vendor(s).
  • Supports all network protocols and server operating environments, supported by database vendors communications products.

Multi-Tier Driver Features

  • Windows (3.x & 95), Windows NT (3.x), MacOS, UNIX (all flavors), VMS and OS/2 as client or server operating systems
  • ODBC version 1.x/2.x Core, Level 1 + Extensions, and most of Level 2 + Extensions compliant
  • Supports multiple, concurrent client applications, through a single driver instance
  • Rule Book Approach to Client-Server Infrastructure Management
  • Blistering Performance
  • Remote database access, is achieved via a high performance Database Independent Communications Layer, based on a Distributed Object Management Architecture, enabling:

Support for Synchronous & Asynchronous network communications over (you do not lose control of your PC during query execution, or connection establishment)

Reduced network traffic using Logical Message Assembly techniques

Support for transport protocols such as, TCP/IP (all desktop flavors), SPX/IPX, and DECnet.

Supports heterogeneous joins across different database engines e.g. joins across Oracle, Informix, and Sybase can be achieved without any performance compromises

Support for Blobs larger than 64K.

Server based query resolution across all supported database engines

Pricing based on concurrent usage, rather than on a per PC basis
