You Will Learn How To
Install the OpenLink Multi Tier ODBC Drivers
The course provides you with the in depth knowledge and skills to administer and roll out an OpenLink based infrastructure. Throughout the course the practical exercises illustrate the "do's and don'ts" of managing the OpenLink environment.
This course is valuable for system integrators, system administrators, database administrators, software developers and technical project managers who are involved in managing or evaluating the OpenLink MT ODBC drivers.
Familiarity with RDMS concepts
*Note: On site courses will be targeted at the skill level of the group. Public courses require candidates to satisfy the necessary pre-requisites.
History Of ODBC
*1 In Public courses SCO UNIX will be used for the Server Operating System. On site courses will use the customers selected server and database.
Lab 1: Installing the OpenLink Product Set. Involves installing the client and server components.
Minimum configuration on the client and server
Lab 2: Establishing a first connection. Involves knowing the minimum requirements to establish a connection through the MT product.
Starting and Shutting Down the Request Broker
Lab 3: Trying the various command line options.
Client Session Rules Book
Client Session Rules Book in detail
Lab 4: Client time out settings and Provider Type configuration
Lab 5: Business Application of the Session Rules Book. Set out a number of situations which candidates should be able to resolve using the Session Rules Book.
Lab 6: Understanding Rule Book Merging
Lab 7: Altering the connection and statement execution timeouts.
Lab 8: Using the security application and then getting them to move part or all of their installation and see what happens for example.
Lab 9: Look at the various options for isolating where a problem is located.
