Which Edition Do I Need?

Answer these questions to find the right edition for you:

Universal Data Access (UDA) · Windows

ODBC Drivers for Windows

Fast, secure ODBC drivers for Excel and every other ODBC application on Windows.

OpenLink Lite (Single-Tier) drivers install on the PC itself and connect straight to your database, in 64-bit and 32-bit builds. Start a 30-day trial for the database you use.

Choose your database#

Each trial opens a short chooser already set to Windows: pick the Windows version, your database version and the driver version, add your email address, and OpenLink’s license generator issues your 30-day trial license and installer.

Your applications

Use it with Excel and other ODBC applications#

Applications on Windows reach databases through an ODBC driver registered as a data source. The same OpenLink driver serves Excel, reporting and analytics tools, and your own applications, and the 32-bit and 64-bit builds each serve applications of the same bitness.

Getting started

  1. Choose your database above and generate your trial license and installer.
  2. Install the driver and create a data source for your database in the ODBC Data Source Administrator.
  3. In your application, choose the new data source and select your tables.

The UDA page describes the drivers for every other database, and the Enterprise (Multi-Tier) edition, which splits the driver into a client on the Windows and an agent beside the database.

Questions

Before you start#

Should I choose the 32-bit or the 64-bit driver?

Match the application, not the PC: a 32-bit application needs the 32-bit driver even on 64-bit Windows. The trial chooser lists both builds where they exist.

What is the difference between Lite and Enterprise?

Lite (Single-Tier) installs the whole driver on the machine that runs your application. Enterprise (Multi-Tier) places an agent beside the database and a thin client on the machine that runs your application, which suits shared or protected databases.

Do I need an account?

The last step opens OpenLink’s license generator, where you log in or register to receive your trial license.
